herpes simplex

Herpes is a contagious disease caused by the Herpes simplex virus (HSV), which exists in two types: HSV type 1 and HSV type 2. Transmission occurs through direct contact, and while it can affect any part of the body, it is most commonly found on the lips or genitals.

Symptoms of Herpes

Symptoms typically include the appearance of small, clear blisters, which may be accompanied by burning, itching, or pain. These blisters then rupture, form ulcers, and eventually dry into scabs. Once healed, the virus remains dormant in nerve ganglia. Recurrences are common when the body's immune system is weakened by factors such as stress or insufficient rest.

Herpes is a lifelong condition with no cure, but symptoms can be managed with oral antiviral medication during outbreaks.
