Menopause

Menopause is the phase when the ovaries cease functioning and female hormones decline, leading to the permanent end of menstruation. It typically occurs in women aged 45–55 years.

Common Symptoms

Common signs of menopause include:

  • Irregular or absent menstrual periods.
  • Hot flashes and night sweats.
  • Difficulty sleeping, mood swings, and increased irritability.
  • Vaginal dryness and pain during sexual intercourse (dyspareunia).
  • Increased risk of osteoporosis (bone loss) and heart disease.

Recommendations

Things women should do during this time:

  • Undergo annual health check-ups.
  • Eat a balanced diet (all 5 food groups), with an emphasis on calcium and protein.
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Consult a doctor if symptoms significantly disrupt daily life.

If you experience these symptoms, you may be entering menopause. It is important to take care of your health and consult with a doctor.
