Angiokeratoma of Fordyce

July 10 / 2025

Angiokeratoma of Fordyce

Angiokeratoma of Fordyce presents as reddish-black papules resembling blood blisters, commonly found on the scrotum, though they may appear elsewhere on the penis. This condition is frequently observed in men aged 40-50 and older.

Causes

The condition is caused by age-related degeneration of blood vessels. It is benign, not caused by infection, does not lead to cancer, and is not contagious. However, scratching or friction in the affected area can cause bleeding due to rupture of the dilated blood vessels.

Treatment

If bleeding occurs, wound care and hemostasis are necessary. Otherwise, treatment is optional. If desired, the condition can be treated with laser therapy or electrocautery.
